U.S. Delegation to NATO Parliamentary Assembly Visits Zagreb

Zagreb, February 21, 2008 -- A U.S. Congressional delegation headed by Representative John Tanner (D-TN) will visit Zagreb on February 21 to assess Croatia’s progress on the path to NATO membership in advance of the Alliance’s April summit in Bucharest. Tanner, who chairs the U.S. House of Representatives delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, and five of his House colleagues will meet with President Stjepan Mesic, Prime Minister Ivo Sanader, and Speaker of Parliament Luka Bebic and other key members of the Sabor. Following these meetings, the delegation will make similar stops in Skopje and Tirana.
Prior to Zagreb, the delegation attended NATO Parliamentary Assembly committee meetings in Brussels and Paris.
Other delegation members are Representatives Ben Chandler (D-KY), Jeff Miller (R-FL), Dennis Moore (D-KS), Mike Ross (D-AR) and Carolyn McCarthy (D-NY).
