United States Donates $860,000 in Equipment to Croatian Customs

As part of the Export Control and Related Border Security Program (EXBS), the U.S. Government has donated equipment valued at $860,267.02 over the past year to Croatian Customs. On April 29, 2010, Embassy Counselor for Political and Economic Affairs Richard Holtzapple and Christopher Milam, Head of the EXBS office, presented the latest installment of this equipment to Mrs. Iva Soic, Assistant Head for International Affairs and European Integration at the Customs Directorate. The equipment includes metal analysis detectors which will enhance the ability of Croatian Customs to prevent, detect, and interdict illicit trafficking in conventional arms, weapons of mass destruction. This program focuses on helping Croatia strengthen its export controls and law enforcement capability and affirms U.S. support for Croatia as a strategic partner and ally.
