The United States Navy Ship USS Taylor to Visit Split

Zagreb, Croatia, June 21, 2010

The United States Navy Warship USS TAYLOR (FFG 50) will arrive in Split on Thursday, 24 June 2010 for a port visit. Prior to arrival, TAYLOR will conduct joint training exercises with the Croatian Coast Guard (OSRH).

TAYLOR currently has sailors from Albania, Croatia, and Montenegro embarked for training as part of the Partnership for Adriatic Mariners. The Partnership for Adriatic Mariners is part of the United States Navy’s Global Maritime Partnership program, an effort to build cooperative relationships that promote maritime safety and security.

TAYLOR’s visit to Split will provide the ship’s crew with some rest and recreation and a chance to meet fellow sailors from the Croatian Navy (HRM).  While in port, TAYLOR will host tour groups from the “Maestral” children’s home in Kastela, which sailors from USS Ross visited last week.

USS TAYLOR is an Oliver Hazard Perry class frigate under the command of Commander (Kapitan Fregate) Lyle Hall.

Additional information about the USS TAYLOR can be viewed on the ship’s internet page at http://www.TAYLOR.navy.mil/
