U.S. Attorney General Holder Meets with Croatian Chief State Prosecutor Bajic

Mladen Bajic, Croatian Chief State Prosecutor, visited Washington, DC, January 31 - February 2, 2012.  During his visit he met with U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Deputy Director Sean Joyce, Ambassador-at-Large in the Office of Global Criminal Justice Stephen Rapp, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Philip Reeker and officials at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia.  During the meetings, U.S. officials and Chief State Prosecutor Bajic discussed mutual legal assistance in criminal matters, security cooperation, and strengthening the ongoing close collaboration between U.S. and Croatian law enforcement and border security personnel in the fight against terrorism and transnational crime.  Mr. Bajic is in Washington to attend the National Prayer Breakfast, scheduled for February 2.

U.S. Ambassador James B. Foley said of the meeting, “The United States is pleased to continue our excellent cooperation with the Republic of Croatia in the fight against transnational crime and corruption.  Protecting our citizens and national security is a common goal we share as cooperative partners in mutual legal assistance.  The United States recognizes the outstanding progress Croatia has made in strengthening the rule of law and Attorney General Holder’s meeting with Chief State Prosecutor Bajic underscores our mutually beneficial partnership in the area of criminal justice.”
