Zagreb, Croatia, December 21, 2006 -- On Thursday, December 21, 2006, Marines of the Marine Security Guard Detachment Zagreb with members of the U.S. diplomatic community donated toys to the "Vladimir Nazor" Orphanage in Karlovac. This event is modeled after the United States Marine Corps "Toys for Tots" annual toy drive that takes place in the United States. The mission of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve "Toys for Tots Program" is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community. This year the items donated to the orphanage's 77 children were provided in the spirit of the holidays by employees of the U.S. Embassy in Zagreb.
