SIXTH FLEET BAND IN ZAGREB

US Embassy Zagreb, in cooperation with Zagreb Tourist Association, is organizing a concert of the Sixth Fleet Band at the Ban Josip Jelacic Square on Friday, June 30th from 11:00 - 12:30.

The Sixth Fleet Band is the U.S. Navy's official Band in Europe, stationed in Naples, Italy. The band travels and performs in port cities in the Mediterranean Sea, Black Sea, U.K., and other diverse locations such as Reykjavik, Iceland. The primary mission of the band is the support of military ceremonies such as changes of command, ship arrivals and official receptions, but the band is equally involved in promoting international community relations. The Sixth Fleet Band is comprised of professional Navy Musicians who are formed into full-time and specialty units designed to fulfill any possible request for musical support. The Band consists of 23 musicians, which includes a Brass Quintet, Dixieland Band and the Fleet Jazz Ensemble. They perform anthems, American marches, jazz, and both the big-band hits of the past as well as R&B sounds of today. The Ban Jelacic Square Concert is a gift of the American Embassy to city of Zagreb, to honor of the American Independence Day, celebrated on July 4th.
