U.S. AMBASSADOR BRADTKE VISITS VUKOVAR
Zagreb, October 3, 2007 - U.S. Ambassador to Croatia, Robert A. Bradtke, will visit Vukovar October 4, 2007. During his visit, Ambassador Bradtke will meet with the Mayor of Vukovar, Zdenka Buljan, and will present a key note address at the European Day of Entrepreneurship Roundtable on e-Vukovar. The roundtable will start at the Hotel Lav on October 4 at 11:00.
On October 3, United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Mission Director, William Jeffers, will participate at the opening of Microsoft Academy at Vukovar Polytechnics Lavoslav Ruzicka and at the opening of Intenet Point at Cafeteria Navis in the center of Vukovar.
E-Vukovar is a joint initiative of Vukovar, USAID, private businesses such as Microsoft and many other local organizations to expand and improve information and communications technology applications for government, businesses, and educational institutions in Vukovar.
Under e-Vukovar Initiative, the U.S. Government through USAID has invested close to half a million U.S. dollars to enhance Vukovar’s digital infrastructure base, provide computer access, introduce software applications, and sponsor training and technical assistance across both public and private sectors.
The highlights of USAID cooperation in Vukovar are a new Microsoft Academy at Vukovar Polytechnics, a network of 20 internet points in local cafes and equipping the city government and its companies with IT computers.
