U.S. SUPPORTS CROATIAN CORPORATE GOVERNANCE CODE
Zagreb, April 3, 2007 - The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is co-sponsoring a seminar to present the newly-released Corporate Governance Code to an audience consisting of representatives from companies listed on the Zagreb Securities Exchange, international financial market experts and the press. The seminar will take place on Wednesday, April 4, at the Mimara Museum, Zagreb beginning at 9 a.m.
Other sponsors of the seminar include the unified financial regulator (HANFA) and the Zagreb Securities Exchange (ZSE). The Croatian Corporate Governance Code sets out procedures to ensure that listed companies provide accurate and transparent information to shareholders and the general public, in conformance with international best practices and E.U. accession requirements.
The seminar will include presentations from Ante Samodol, Roberto Motusic, and representatives from securities markets in Germany, Poland and Slovenia.
For more information, please contact Ms. Melita Marceta at telephone 01-468-6811.
USAID is the primary assistance organization of the United States Government. Since 1992, the United States has provided over $407 million to Croatia (much of it through USAID programs) to strengthen democratic institutions and assist in postwar reconstruction and the return of refugees, to support de-mining and economic development, and to provide educational and training opportunities. The U.S. has also provided guidance and support to the Croatian judicial and military sectors to further Croatia's integration in Euro-Atlantic institutions.
