Fulbright Program
Fulbright for the Future
The Fulbright Program aims to bring a little more knowledge, a little more reason, and a little more compassion into world affairs and thereby to increase the chance that nations will learn at last to live in peace and friendship."
– J. William Fulbright

The Fulbright Program in Croatia
The Fulbright Program in Croatia started in 1964 with the signing of a bilateral agreement between the governments of the United States and Yugoslavia. A Memorandum of Understanding between the governments of the United States and the Republic of Croatia, signed on October 27, 1992, marks the beginning of the program with the newly independent country. The Fulbright Program in Croatia is co-sponsored by the Croatian Ministry of Science, Education and Sports which contributes financially and administratively to the program.
Since 1964, more than 360 Croatians have participated in the Fulbright program and many of them occupy prominent positions in the government, business, academia and culture – Dr. Zeljko Rohatinski, Governor of the National Bank of Croatia, and Prof. Esad Prohić, Ambassador to Iran, are just two prominent examples.
Around ten Croatian scholars and students travel annually to the United States to conduct research at American universities under the Fulbright sponsorship. The same number of American scholars and students lecture or carry out research at educational institutions throughout Croatia.
