Citizen Services

General Information

Providing services to American citizens in Croatia is one of the U.S. Embassy’s most important tasks.

The American Citizen Services (ACS) unit in the Consular section is open on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 12:00 noon - 3:00 PM, and Wednesday from 8:00 AM - 12:00 noon and 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM. American citizens should bring their passports for identification and easy access to the Consular section.

American citizens may also call to make an appointment. Appointments are strongly recommended for more complicated services, such as documenting newborn children as American citizens. The ACS unit can be reached via telephone between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM Monday through Friday at +385-1-661-2300 (ext. 2276). For emergency services, call +385-1-661-2300/2200. For more information on American Citizen Services, you may also wish to visit the Department of Consular Affairs site for ACS information at http://travel.state.gov/travel/index.html.

Registration

If you plan to be in Croatia for an extended period of time, please register with the Consular section.

Registration helps us:

  • Locate you in case family members elsewhere need to contact you in an emergency
  • Locate you in case the Embassy needs to contact you because of an emergency here in Croatia
  • Facilitate issuance of a new passport in case yours is lost or stolen

By U.S. law, the registration information you give to us is confidential. We can release it ONLY if you provide us written authorization, and then only to the persons to whom you have authorized such release.

You can register on-line or fill out the form when you visit the Embassy.
