How Do I Apply?

Applicants who require urgent travel to the United States can request an emergency appointment if there are no available appointments on the NIV appointment calendar.

Emergencies appointments will be considered only for the following:

• Emergencies due to the hospitalization or death of a relative in the United States;
• Last minute student or petition-based visas; or
• Urgent or unforseeable business travel to the United States.

Please note that travel for tourism purposes is generally not considered an emergency.

Such travelers should contact our office any working day from 1:30 PM – 2:30 PM on the phone no. +385-1-661-2300 for more information on the procedure.

A written request explaining the purpose of travel and the emergency should be faxed (+385-1-665-8933) or emailed (consularzagreb@state.gov) to the Consular Section.  Faxed requests should contain a fax number for response.  After reviewing the request, we will notify the applicant whether their request for an emergency appointment was approved or denied.
