Journalists Need "I" Visa to Travel to United States While on Assignment

June 7, 2004

ZAGREB, CROATIA, June 7, 2004 - Foreign journalists traveling to the United States in their capacity as representatives of foreign press, radio, film, television, or other foreign information media to engage in such vocation during their U.S. stay are reminded that they must travel on an "I" class visa.

An "I" visa allows a working journalist to enter the United States to work on an assignment. U.S. law specifically excludes such individuals from using the "B" visa to enter the U.S. for the purpose of conducting journalistic or media activities.

Croatian journalists and media representatives who plan to travel to the United States should obtain an "I" class visa at the U.S. Embassy in Zagreb.
